First Step Completed

As you probably know, there is a semi-conductor chip shortage. This translates to fewer available vehicles making it to dealerships. I need a tow vehicle, and I have a Chevy Cruze that’s lease ends in November. I was concerned that there would not be any trucks available at that time and I would be stuck.

Demand for used vehicles is up due to the lack of available new ones and a higher demand as the country opens back up post Covid. This all contributes to a situation that is unprecendented. If you have a used vehicle, you can get a very good price when selling it. Right now slightly used vehicles are often selling for more than the new MSRP of the same or similar vehicle. So, be aware that if you are near the end of a lease, you may be able to turn the car in early, clear the remaining lease payments and still make a small profit to be used on a purchase. This is especially true if you have been working from home due to Covid, and have not been putting miles on your car for the last year.

So, I finally was able to locate a truck at a nearby Ford dealership. They appraised the Chevy Cruze, and due to the demand, paid off my remaining 6 lease payments while providing well over $1000 towards the new truck.

Barely fits in the garage.

One goal has been reached. The next will be to find a suitable camping trailer when they are also hard to find. Apparently, glue for lamination, insulation, and RV refrigerators (chip shortage) are also in short supply.
